Flexible demand as a grid service

Because miners can curtail within seconds, some grids use them as controllable load: off during scarcity, on during surplus.

That can make wind and solar projects viable that otherwise lack a buyer of last resort.

Reusing waste heat

All electricity consumed leaves as heat. In Northern Europe it heats districts, pools, drying processes and greenhouses.

Heat recovery changes the maths: effective energy cost falls by the value of displaced heating.

European rules ahead

Under MiCA, crypto service providers must publish information on the climate impact of consensus mechanisms; large data centres face energy and water reporting duties.

For miners this means documented power sourcing becomes a condition for working with professional counterparties.
