SEPA in practice: limits, timing and recalls

When buying and selling crypto, the banking leg is often the slowest link.

Instant versus standard transfers

SEPA Instant usually arrives within ten seconds, including weekends; standard transfers process on business days.

Not every bank sends instant by default and limits are often lower.

  • Instant: seconds, weekends included
  • Standard: business days
  • Limits differ per bank and channel

Daily limits

Most banks apply daily and weekly limits for new beneficiaries; raising them can take 24 hours.

Plan large purchases at least a day ahead.

Recalls and mistakes

A SEPA transfer can only be recalled with the receiving bank's cooperation, so report the same day.

A crypto transaction can never be recalled.

Why a deposit hangs

Platforms check that the account name matches your account; mismatches trigger manual review or return.

Keep it simple: own account, own name, clear reference.

Ofte stilte spørsmål

How long does a SEPA transfer to a crypto platform take?

Seconds with Instant; one business day otherwise.

Can I reverse a wrong transfer?

Your bank can request a recall for SEPA; crypto transactions cannot be reversed.

Why is my deposit refused on a name mismatch?

Platforms must verify the payer is the account holder.
