Prove where your crypto wealth came from
Buying years ago and cashing out now means bridging a decade with evidence — only possible if you can show the chain from money to coin and back.
The chain you must show
It starts with legal income: salary, savings, a sale or a gift, then how that money reached a platform and what you bought.
The last link is the payout: which coins were sold, at what price, into which account.

When evidence is missing
Defunct exchanges are a known problem; use old bank statements, email confirmations and on-chain transfers to your own address.
Write a short statement naming the gaps honestly.
Mining, staking and airdrops
Show the source: pool statements, validator addresses or the airdrop contract, with value at receipt.
Record that value immediately; reconstructing later causes disputes.
Maintaining the file
Update quarterly and store it outside the platform with a backup.
A complete file turns a months-long bank review into days.
