BUIDL: price, fund and mechanics
BUIDL is the tokenized form of the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, a money market fund from asset manager BlackRock brought onchain via the Securitize platform. Like USYC, BUIDL isn't a stablecoin pegged to one dollar, but a digital fund share with a fixed value of one dollar per token that pays daily dividends. This page shows the live price and explains the structure.

Till handelshubbenA BlackRock fund on the blockchain
BUIDL launched in March 2024 by BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, in partnership with Securitize as tokenization platform and transfer agent. The fund invests raised capital in cash, US treasuries and repurchase agreements.
Unlike USYC, BUIDL is deliberately kept flat at one dollar per token; returns aren't reflected in the price but are distributed monthly as additional tokens to holders, similar to dividends in a traditional fund.
BUIDL is considered one of the first large-scale examples of an established traditional asset manager issuing a money market fund directly on a public blockchain, contributing to wider attention on real-world asset tokenization.
- Issued by BlackRock via the Securitize platform
- Invests in cash, treasuries and repos
- Returns distributed as extra tokens, price stays at one dollar
Access and use
Participation in BUIDL is reserved for qualified institutional investors who meet Securitize's identification and eligibility requirements; the fund is not freely available to retail investors on consumer platforms.
The token is used, among other things, as collateral within institutional crypto infrastructure, for example at derivatives exchanges that accept BUIDL as margin collateral instead of cash, boosting the yield on parked capital.
Because BUIDL transfers happen on the blockchain, participants can transfer positions continuously and outside regular fund hours, faster than with a traditional money market fund with daily settlement.
Regulation and risks
BUIDL operates under existing US securities regulation as a fund with limited placement to qualified investors; it is not a freely tradable stablecoin and doesn't fall under the same rules as e-money tokens in frameworks like MiCA.
The main risk is not peg loss but access and liquidity risk: token subscriptions and redemptions run through the fund and Securitize, and the ability to exit quickly depends on operational settlement by those parties.
As with any fund, there's also market risk on the underlying treasuries and counterparty risk at the custodians and fund structure, even though BlackRock as manager is an established, regulated party.
