TSMC manufactures what others design. At the leading edge there is barely an alternative: Samsung and Intel keep trying, but yields and the customer list have favoured Taiwan for years.
That position is also the biggest risk. Geopolitical tension around Taiwan is not a theoretical scenario for shareholders, and the new fabs in the US, Japan and Germany are partly an answer to it.

Track monthly revenue, fab utilisation and revenue by node. The share of leading-edge nodes says more about margin than total revenue does.
Capex guidance is the second signal: it shows how much AI capacity comes online in two to three years.
Where this company sits in the AI chain
Suppliers deliver the machines and manufacturing that let the rest of the chain exist at all. Their revenue leads chip demand by years, because a fab or a tool is ordered long in advance.
That makes the order book the real news here. Today's recognised revenue is a decision taken two years ago.
