Cookie policy

Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit block9.net. This page explains which categories we use, what they do, how long they last and how to change your choice.

Block #9 is published by Redwind BV (redwind.nl). Questions about cookies or your choice: privacy@block9.net.

1. When we place cookies

Necessary cookies are always placed: without them login, language choice and security do not work. For all other categories we ask for your consent up front via the cookie notice. Your choice is stored and can be changed at any time.

  • Language cookie: remembers the language for the site and emails.
  • Security cookie: helps block abuse, bot traffic and repeated login attempts.
  • Cookie preference cookie: stores which categories you allowed.

4. Analytics

We measure site usage to see which articles are read and where errors occur. This measurement is privacy-friendly: IP addresses are truncated or anonymised, visits are not linked to advertising profiles and data is not shared with advertisers.

5. Third-party embeds

Third-party videos and players (including YouTube) can set their own cookies once you play them. We only load those players after your choice or a click. Third-party content is governed by their own cookie and privacy policy.

6. Advertising cookies

Block #9 does not use ad networks that track you across websites. Ads on the platform are served directly by us and measure at most aggregated impressions and clicks, without a personal profile.

7. Changing or withdrawing your choice

  • Open the cookie settings at the bottom of the site and adjust your categories.
  • Delete cookies in your browser settings; we will then ask for your choice again.
  • Configure your browser to block third-party cookies or use private browsing.

Refusing functional or analytics cookies does not affect access to articles. Without necessary cookies you cannot log in or use paid features.

8. Retention and changes

We store your cookie choice for up to 12 months, after which we ask again. This policy may change when we adopt new tools. The version date at the top indicates the applicable version. Our privacy policy applies in addition for the processing of personal data.
