How we compare

We compare the commission on rewards, not the advertised yield. Yield comes from the network; commission is the only thing the provider sets. Custody and tax tracking weigh just as heavily.

Eigen validator (solo staking)

Non-custodial, own hardware

The purest form: run your own validator, keep the keys, pay nobody. In return you carry the technical risk.

Commission 0% commission, hardware and power

  • No middleman, full reward
  • Best for decentralisation
  • High threshold and maintenance
  • You own the uptime risk

Belgium and the Netherlands
Rewards are typically movable income in Belgium; in the Netherlands the value counts in box 3.

Eigen validator (solo staking) website

Kiln

Enterprise staking, non-custodial

The corporate route: a European provider, clean reporting and self-custody — aimed at larger positions.

Commission 5 to 10% commission

  • European base and reporting
  • Client keeps the keys
  • Not aimed at small amounts
  • Onboarding takes longer

Belgium and the Netherlands
Reporting matches what a Belgian or Dutch accountant expects for a company.

Lido

Liquid staking, non-custodial

The largest liquid staking pool. You trade part of the reward for liquidity and convenience, without handing coins to a custodian.

Commission 10% commission on rewards

  • Instantly liquid through stETH
  • Works from a few euros
  • Concentration of validator power
  • Extra layer of contract risk

Belgium and the Netherlands
Rebasing tokens complicate tax tracking; keep daily records of every mutation.

Lido website

Rocket Pool

Liquid staking, non-custodial

The decentralised alternative to Lido: more operators, slightly more commission and a token that appreciates instead of rebasing.

Commission about 14% commission on rewards

  • Strongly decentralised operator set
  • rETH is easy to track for tax
  • Higher commission than the leader
  • Less deep liquidity

Belgium and the Netherlands
Because rETH appreciates, the result only appears on sale — which keeps filing simple.

Custodial

Convenience at a steep price. Fine to learn how staking works, expensive to hold for years.

Commission 25 to 35% commission

  • One button, no tech
  • Usable annual statement
  • Highest commission here
  • Counterparty risk at the custodian

Belgium and the Netherlands
The annual statement works for Belgian and Dutch filing, but convert to euro yourself.
